Terms of Employment: Vacant, Permanent, Full-Time

Reports To: Executive Creative Director

Location:  Toronto (Hybrid or Remote)

T1 is a full-stack sponsorship and experiences agency—driven by purpose, powered by community.

In a sea of sameness, where brands are fighting to be seen and struggling to be felt, we create bold, unforgettable partnerships and experiences that ignite real communities. From strategic sponsorships to creative activations, we turn big ideas into moments that move people and make an impact.

Because in a world of skips, blocks, and being ignored—we build what lasts: trust, connection, and belonging.

Role Overview:

As an Associate Creative Director, Writer at T1, you are a conceptual leader and a craft-obsessed storyteller. You shape ideas that are strategically grounded, culturally fluent, and built to move people. You understand that great sponsorship, activation and campaign work is not louder. It is smarter. It is intentional. And when it needs to be, it is bold.

You see more than a score. You see ritual, rivalry, identity, tension, and opportunity. You understand that sport is never just sport. It is culture in motion. And you know how to translate that into platforms, campaigns, and experiences that feel earned, not imposed.

In this role, you will lead creative development across sports and sponsorship-driven initiatives, transforming brand partnerships into meaningful experiences and integrated campaigns. You will play a key leadership role within the Strategy & Creative team, contributing to day-to-day project excellence and long-term platform development.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead creative platforms: Shape culturally fluent, strategically grounded concepts across sports and sponsorship-based campaigns, transforming partnerships and rights into integrated brand platforms that travel across experiential, content, retail, digital, and social.

  • Own narrative and craft: Write and oversee manifestos, scripts, partnership decks, experiential storytelling, and content systems, ensuring the work is intentional, cohesive, and anchored in clear business, brand, and community objectives.

  • Present and influence: Articulate creative concepts with clarity and conviction to senior clients, brand partners, and rights holders, confidently navigating multi-stakeholder environments to move ideas forward.

  • Elevate the work and the team: Mentor writers and cross-functional creatives, raise the bar on conceptual thinking and craft, and contribute to new business pitches and proactive opportunities tied to major cultural and sports moments.

Qualifications

  • 6 to 10+ years of experience in an agency creative role, ideally at Senior Writer or Associate Creative Director level.

  • Demonstrated experience developing sports-related campaigns or platforms within multi-stakeholder environments, including brand partners and rights holders.

  • A strong conceptual portfolio showcasing integrated platform thinking rooted in insight, not just execution.

  • Exceptional writing craft across long-form and short-form formats including manifestos, scripts, experiential narratives, partnership decks, and content systems.

  • Proven ability to translate business and community objectives into clear, compelling creative platforms.

  • Strong presentation and communication skills with senior stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated leadership and mentorship experience within a creative team.

  • High level of ownership, organization, and accountability across complex, deadline-driven projects.

  • We know great creative leaders come from different paths. If you bring strong conceptual thinking, cultural fluency, and leadership instincts, we want to hear from you even if you do not meet every single requirement.

  • Please include a link to your portfolio with your application. Your portfolio should demonstrate sport expertise, platform thinking, strategic grounding, and strong writing craft.

You’ll Thrive Here If You:

  • Understand sports culture deeply, from ritual and rivalry to rights and revenue.

  • Create with intention and purpose, balancing boldness with strategic discipline.

  • Bring conceptual thinking grounded in business realities, not just aesthetics.

  • Are confident presenting to senior decision-makers and navigating complex stakeholder dynamics.

  • Take ownership of the work and protect the integrity of ideas from concept to execution.

  • Mentor generously and raise the creative bar around you.

  • Are comfortable in fast-paced environments where clarity, craft, and accountability matter.
